More about Leoh

SweetThingsbyLeoh was born out of my love of making homemade fudge and other sweets.
I always enjoyed baking cakes and making treats and so when my mum bought back a pile of old fashioned women’s magazines from the charity shop when I was 12 years old I could not wait to try out a vanilla fudge recipe that I found within. Armed with an old battered saucepan and a wooden spoon I set about making the fudge. After three failed attempts and a big gooey mess, I finally had success and I can tell you I was not disappointed! I enjoyed making this fudge for a while but as a teenager generally does I found I had better things to do with my time and so my baking days where finished for some while. Years later having already left home and raising a family of three children I decided to make some fudge again and so went to see if I could borrow the recipe from my mum. Unfortunately she no longer had the recipe. I set about trying various other fudge recipes never being happy with the results, so I decided to try to develop my own. This turned out over time to be very rewarding as I found after a few tweaks here and there that I had made a delicious Vanilla fudge recipe that I can truly call my own! This recipe is now the basis of most of my other recipes adding, removing, and tweaking here and there when developing one of my new fudge flavours.
Apart from my fudge, I also enjoy making other sweets such as marshmallow, cakes, biscuits, jams, and jellies.
I try where possible to use only the freshest and highest quality ingredients, adding only natural colours or flavours.
When making my jams and jellies, if I can grow the fruit myself then that what I use to make it.
Currently I grow, strawberries, blueberries, blackcurrants, apples, gooseberries and rhubarb all of which I make into jams and jellies.
I was inspired to start up my Etsy shop after encouragement from friends and family and a few successful stalls at my children’s school, and local church fares.
The idea of earning a living doing something that I love is very appealing to me and I am very proud to be able to offer my customers my very own original recipes!
I hope you will enjoy eating my sweets and treats as much as I enjoy making them

More about Carolyn

Handcrafted Jewellery by Carolyn Ford

Since beginning to handcraft sterling silver jewellery back in 2009, I’ve been meaning to set up “Silverbird Designs” (named after my first design).

My background has always been art…..I have a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration and have worked for over 15 years in the design industry. Even when studying, I had a craft stall at the local market.

I use traditional silversmithing techniques for my jewellery. Every piece is lovingly sketched, cut, filed, sanded, textured, soldered and polished by hand.

I like to create simple yet eye catching designs that can be worn for that special occasion or for everyday wear.

Thanks for looking!

It's all about the beads....

Well not entirely but it is what drew me back in jewellery making a few years back. I wanted to make my own beads, I thought about paper beads but then re-discovered polymer clay and the rest is history!! I've been making beads ever since, some have been turned into jewellery, some are waiting for inspiration to strike, others are being sold as they are to allow others to create beautiful things!! My second love is chainmaille, I am constantly amazed at how you can manipulate little metal rings to make the most beautiful chains.

BizziZizzi -Buttons Beads & Beautiful Things

More about Lizzi

"Buttons are like mothers - they hold everything together!"

Bizzi Zizzi was 'conceived' in 2011 when Lizzi turned 40 and felt the need to get back to her creative roots.

Born into a family of artists, musicians, photographers, knitters and seamstresses, it was only natural that Lizzi would pick up the creative vibe and from an early age was doodling and colouring to her heart's content.

The first sign of her future in the creative world was her d├ębut on stage (all be an end of primary school production) recreating a painting by Lowry while the rest of the cast sang 'Matchstick Men and Matchstick Cats & Dogs' by Brian Burke and Michael Coleman.

Later, at secondary school, she took part in a Young Enterprise Scheme and was production manager for making wooden school badges.

Then hormones and realities of life and making a decent living took over and her creative hobbies were set aside while she carved a career in the corporate world.

Now, with a young family of her own, who also love to cut, colour and stick together their own yoghurt pots, boxes and lollipop sticks, she felt the urge to really give her creative side a chance to shine.

Having tried nearly every type of craft available, from batik to blacksmithing, she has settled on creating buttons with polymer clay. Not only is this one of the materials she remembers using as a child (Fimo), she feels strongly that everything she makes should have a purpose in life, not to just look pretty.

Lizzi is also one of the founder members of The Handmade Hub - a community group of artists, designers and makers based in and around Towcester, South Northamptonshire.

BizziZizzi ships to United Kingdom from Towcester, England.

Uniquely designed and custom-made textile art

My first piece of textile art was made as a leaving gift for a classroom teacher. It included the signatures of all the pupils in the class. Each signature was embroidered and added to the design. I then began to make and sell framed pictures and greetings cards which I sold in a local gift shop on a commission basis.
My first sale on Etsy was a commission order for a lady in America. We worked closely on choice of colours and picture content until we were both happy on the final design.
I love ethnic art and enjoy working with strong colours and decorative elements. I tend to choose subjects that lend themselves to being represented in that way.

More about Mel Amann

I was born in Bath, and spent my childhood living in Wiltshire. Over the years I have moved around to various parts of the country due to my husband’s work, and have now settled in Upavon, Pewsey, with my husband, our four children and two cats.
I have never formally studied art, but have tried my hand at most ‘arty crafty’ things, ranging from cake decorating to silk painting. I find arts and crafts very therapeutic and am lucky enough to find it comes naturally.
My current medium is paper cutting and as I’m very much drawn to the neatness and sharp lines of our country’s architecture, this seemed the perfect place to start. I have been inspired by various contemporary papercut artists such as Suzy Taylor, Beatrice Coron, Robert Ryan and Beth White.
Over the next few weeks I am planning to cut various ‘Architecture’, mainly found in the West Country. I also have plans for some ‘Woodland’ cuttings and a smaller sized ‘Nursery’ range. Finally, I have a couple of other projects planned, but they will need to be kept ‘top secret’ for now.

More about Jay Kaye

Super passionate about colour, texture and pattern, the world seems to be be very graphic and impersonal , and although I work quite happily on a computer, for print projects. I love painting paper, chucking paint and making a mess.
At the same time I love defined lines and repetition. After years of painting abstract seascapes, I began to play around with collage, and feel like I have now settled for an art form which suits me.
I live with my daughter in Cornwall, about a mile from the beach, in an ancient cottage which is falling down and freezing in winter.

I have a huge love of retro home ware which also influences my work, and also run the vintage home ware website www.planetutopia.co.uk

Jane makes vintage inspired fashion and crafts, whilst FrannB (Janes daughter) Designs brings you her unique young adult fashions.

More about Jane

Find Quality Handmade Clothes down at Petticoat Jane!
My shop is called Petticoatjane and I make vintage inspired clothes under the Petticoat Jane label. The name is a play on words - that famous London second hand clothes market, Petticoat Lane and my name Jane. My Grandma who was one of 13 children often talked about how her aunt who had a stall on Petticoat Lane market in the early 1900's and sent clothes to her sister (my Grandma's mum) for her many children wear. So this is the story of where my shop name comes from.

My daughter has recently joined me and we are now running as the shop as a team. My daughter is taking A' level textiles at high school and loves fashion. She designs for the young adult market under her Frann B Designs label making clothes and accessories which are sold through this shop. Her aim is become a designer and sell her designs through her own high street shop.

I have always loved vintage fashion and the styles of yesteryear. My favorite era's are 1920's and 1950's. I don't have many original vintage clothes, but I do have a massive collection of patterns from 1920's to now. I love is sewing. I use my vintage pattern collection to make retro clothes which I sell through this shop. These are unique, vintage inspired fashions for those who love quality clothing that is properly made unlike today's mass produced items that start falling apart after a couple of wears.

Recent events have made me look at what I am doing with my life. I made a winter coat a couple of years back which everyone I know has admired and even strangers stop me to tell me they like it, some of my friends asked me to make them a coat too.

As well as making my own clothes, I have volunteered with Red Rose chain as a costume assistant. It was great fun making the outfits for the actors.

I have decided to diversify slightly with my shop. As well as sewing, I also love vintage recipe books and crafts. I will be making patterns for some of the crafts I make and will write up some of the old recipes I have adapted. I hope that you will enjoy them.

My aim is one day to open my own Vintage Clothes shop on the high street - a girl can dream!

More about Nicola

Expressing love across the miles with paper-craft

I first discovered paper-craft card making around 2003 when I bought a card kit from Lakeland. I started off slowly, learning the techniques and copying the examples given. As time went by my kit grew and I had completely stopped buying cards from shops in favour of making my own personalised cards.
My friends and family loved the personal touch so I decided to make some Christmas cards to sell. I didn't concentrate on selling all through the year though as other things were happening and I eventually moved to London with my then boyfriend and we got married. I started a new office job and continued to sell cards, also taking orders for personalised cards.
By 2010 I had my son, stopped working and my parents had moved to Canada, where my sister had also moved a couple of years before. Sending personalised cards to my family was even more important then as I couldn't see them as often as I wanted.
Mum came back for a visit in late 2012 and bought some cards from me, stating how the shop cards in Canada just weren't as good. That got me thinking and I took all the cards I had with me when we all visited in June 2013. I sold most of them and came back home to my normal routine, being a mum and making cards.
I started a blog and entering card making competitions, which meant I was making more cards than usual, so I decided I'd like to share my passion with even more people and my shop was born.
